It has officially been 90 days since I have slept full-time on a hemp bed. Yes, you heard that right, 3 whole months since I cut up my 10” queen mattress, anointed my hulls, and placed them in a bag as my mattress.
I sleep on 198 lbs of hemp hulls every night. After lecturing on the dirty dozen several times I decided to really live a clean and sustainable lifestyle, meaning that my clothing and then eventually even my bed, couch, and everything under my roof, including my walls one day will be made from hemp and or other sustainable materials that have been used for centuries.
“For now, I got a bed from Open Your Eyes Bedding where they have options like hemp hulls, buckwheat, and even lavender hulls to fill anything from eye masks, weighted blankets, pillows and beds!"
I found them after a long arduous search for natural bedding and a ton of fakery and foolishly that posed as natural.
I ordered the hulls, and mattress bags, and less than a couple of weeks later BAM 198lbs. of hemp at my door. I had to get to work. It took me a few weeks to manually cut up my 10-inch queen mattress with a bread knife and scissors. Once I got through that tedious but meditative part of the equation I moved on to anointing my hulls with my son, some thieves and lavender oil, and some dope mantras and affirmations.
Every day or week, we choose weekly, you are supposed to gather the hemp hulls in the center of the mattress bag to redistribute. I admit it takes a bit of muscle and patience but it is well worth it.
So after getting all the hulls in and in the center, I like to walk up and down the middle to even the hump out. Otherwise, I end up on the downside of a hill, no Bueno. The rest, let me tell you, is unbelievable. Even a toss-and-turn type of night results in a night of good sleep. I thought I would have trouble getting up and down but interestingly enough my knees haven't felt better since. I don't have to crawl in or out of bed. I used to have back pain and that is a thing of the past. My bed is like a full-on detox bath and feels good on the sorest of muscles.
I didn't give the disclaimer of also having hemp sheets. can we say next level?
Lastly, we are on a #hempherout campaign. showing families how easy it can be to live sustainably and help the plane heal at the same time.
Open Your Eyes Bedding has figured out the game. creating sustainable beds and accessories that help hemp farmers give their hemp seeds one more life cycle. one that can last for decades. far more than the average mattress does nowadays.
It was totally a blast putting my bed together, my son would tell you the same exact thing and he is only 8 years old. so there ya have it. If an eight-year-old can participate and assist and enjoy this bed, so can you.
