Why Teach Terpenes?

Updated: Jun 3, 2023

I have been heavily intrigued by this component of plants and our environment for a long time. I am absolutely in love and obsessed with terpenes.

Throughout my formal cannabis education, I found more alignment and synergy with what I thought were essential oils. I then discovered that these terpenes molecules come together, sometimes with carrier oils, to make up essential oils.

“Then I found out terpenes are what really curate and cultivate the experiences behind plants significantly, insert drum roll here, the cannabis plant. Think of a time when you smelled something either excellent or awful. .”

The innate feeling that your body had to the smells. It was immediate repulsion, bringing back an instant memory or an instant attraction and the need to have the scent in your life moving forward. I've been in those places and now understand why the reaction is so profound.

Research has demonstrated the correlation between smell and memory. We also know anatomically speaking that the first cranial nerve is the olfactory nerve, which is in charge of our sense of smell. Emerging research also shows that terpenes inherently carry antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, antipyretic, anti-convulsant, etc.

Then there is the fun fact that terpenes sequester things like carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane that we already know steadily destroy our ozone layer. In other words, these components of plants help us on an individual and global level. One way we learned terpenes was through posters like these.

I discovered that teaching about terpenes was a key to generational wealth and the resolution of the environmental woes we know of today! Our children, the public, and everyone need to know and capture this. Maybe, just maybe, then we will stop destroying our planet and begin the recovery

We will go more into what, where, how, and why terpenes are such a glorious comment of plants, but for now, I desire you to know why.

To learn more, I invested in these dope terpene posters from Gold Leaf. I am slightly obsessed we keep learning from them even two years later. grab one for yourself and learn with your family.
